Jamshedpur, Sept 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off six new Vande Bharat Express trains from Tatanagar railway station on September 15 (Sunday).
Confirming this today Sopan Datta, a senior official based at Garden Reach in Kolkata on behalf of the chief public relations officer said that the Prime Minister would also lay the foundation stone and dedicate some railway projects to Jharkhand soon after the flagging-off ceremony on Sunday morning.
Apart from the Tata-Patna Vande Bharat Express, the other semi-high-speed trains include the Tata-Berhampur Vande Bharat Express, Rourkela-Howrah Vande Bharat Express and Durg-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express.
Notably, ever since independence, this would be the first visit of a Prime Minister to Tatanagar, an A-1 category railway station.

PM Modi to hold roadshow
Former Union Minister and BJP leader Arjun Munda had reviewed the preparations at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur yesterday.
The Prime Minister is expected to participate in a road show from the railway station to Bistupur, later he would address a party meeting at the landmark Gopal Maidan.
During the review, Munda said that apart from Vande Bharat’s flagging-off ceremony, several other rural development schemes across the country will also be launched by the Prime Minister.
Tatanagar station’s legacy and infrastructure
Tatanagar which comes under Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway falls under Howrah- Mumbai main trunk route.
Although, several Union Ministers had visited the station in the past but a Prime Minister would come to the station for the first time.
The old name of Tatanagar station was Kalimati. Kalimati station on the Howrah-Nagpur railway line was established in 1891.
In 1907, fulfilling the dream of Tata Group founder JN Tata, his elder son Sir Dorabji Tata laid the foundation of the first Tata Iron and Steel Company (now Tata Steel).
Tatanagar railway station has five platforms. From here the route to reach Badampahar is also changed.
