THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK
Ramgarh, July 5: A major accident occurred late Friday night in the Karma Project-Sugiya area of CCL (Central Coalfields Limited) in Ramgarh district, where a section of the mine collapsed during illegal coal mining. Around 8 to 10 people are feared trapped under the debris. Following the incident, a large crowd of local villagers gathered at the site.
Local administration and CCL officials have reached the site and are assessing the situation. Rescue operations have been initiated, although the exact number of people trapped and their current condition remains unclear. The incident has caused panic in the area and led to widespread anger among the residents.
According to preliminary information, CCL had shut down this mine a few days ago. However, illegal mining activities reportedly continued at the site. The tragic incident occurred during one such operation late Friday night.

The accident has highlighted serious negligence on the part of CCL. Reports suggest that blasting had been carried out in the open-cast mines by CCL, and the site was left open despite subsequent rainfall. Taking advantage of the situation, locals entered the area to extract coal. Several individuals were trapped inside the mine after the collapse.
