Jamshedpur, Feb 25: Satnam Singh Gambhir, the Eastern India President of the All India Sikh Students Federation, expressed his dissatisfaction with the life imprisonment sentence given to former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar, who was convicted for the murder of five Sikhs in Delhi Cantt’s Palam Colony during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

He stated that the punishment is insufficient for someone responsible for the killing of thousands of innocent Sikhs, and that Sajjan Kumar deserves the death penalty.

Gambhir highlighted that after the brutal killing of five Sikhs, the Gurudwara in the area was set on fire, reflecting the severity of the crime. He criticized the delayed justice, pointing out that it took 41 years for the verdict to be announced.

Despite the long wait, he welcomed the court’s decision, emphasizing that it has restored people’s faith in the judicial system. He also expressed hope that other perpetrators involved in the 1984 riots would soon face justice.
