Jamshedpur, Feb 19: A 26-year-old youth identified as Subham Ghosh was seriously injured as a gang of armed criminals launched a gunshot attack on him near the Dhatkidih market under Bistupur thana area on Wednesday afternoon.
Shubham who is the son of the slain liquor mafia Munna Ghosh was attacked while he was returning home along with a friend on foot from the Dhatkidih vegetable market.
Victim in critical condition, police arrive on scene
The victim who has sustained two bullets — one near the chest and another in the abdomen — has been rushed to Tata Main Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

As the information about the gunshot attack reached Dhatkidih Harijan Bustee, the place where the victim resides, a large number of bustee dwellers, including women reached the crime spot and created a ruckus.
Getting to know about the incident, a police party from Bistupur thana rushed to the spot. City SP Kumar Shivashish and DSP (CCR) Manoj Kumar Thakuralso rushed to the spot for the necessary action.

Eyewitness reveals details of attack
The victim’s friend Rahul said while he and Subham were negotiating a road through Dhatkid market, three bike-borne youths intercepted them.
“One of the three, identified as Shibu fished out a pistol and trained it at Subham who somehow caught the former. But in the meantime, 10-11 youths suddenly emerged from an adjoining lane. Having reached the scene, three of those youths started firing indiscriminately at Subham, causing him to sustain two shots. As Subham fell on the ground, the attackers fled the scene,” narrated Rahul while speaking to the newsmen.
Police probe underway, security reinforced
The police, however, succeeded in pacifying the desperadoes having assured them that those involved in the attack would be arrested soon.
But keeping the sensitivity of the incident, the City SP has deployed an adequate number of QRTs at the crime scene. And the same time the police have started collecting footage from the CCTV cameras installed along Raj Electricals shop where the incident took place.
Significantly, Subham Ghosh has also a criminal record and was accused in a murder case.
The police suspect today’s gun-shot attack on Subham was the result of a murder case he was allegedly involved in.
