Jamshedpur, April 14: Sona Devi University commemorated the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with a solemn tribute and remembrance ceremony held in the university auditorium at Ghatshila today.

The event honored the legacy of the principal architect of the Indian Constitution and a lifelong crusader for social justice, equality, and education.
University Chancellor Prabhakar Singh emphasized the importance of honoring national icons like Dr. Ambedkar, stating, “No country can progress without paying respect to its national heroes.”

He urged everyone to draw inspiration from Dr. Ambedkar’s struggles and teachings, especially his unwavering belief in education as a powerful tool for social transformation.

Registrar Dr. Gulab Singh Azad also addressed the gathering, encouraging all to walk in the footsteps of Dr. Ambedkar.
“We must commit ourselves in thought, word, and deed to realizing his unfulfilled dreams. That would be our true tribute to him,” he said.
Dr. Azad recalled Dr. Ambedkar as one of the most educated individuals of his time, who tirelessly fought against caste discrimination and social inequalities.
Highlighting Dr. Ambedkar’s academic and professional achievements, he noted that Dr. Ambedkar earned a law degree and a doctorate in economics from the London School of Economics, and later served as India’s first Law Minister after independence.
In 1990, he was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor.

Assistant Professor of Political Science Dr. Shiv Chandra Jha also shed light on Dr. Ambedkar’s life and contributions.
The event began with the garlanding of Dr. Ambedkar’s portrait and a floral tribute by university officials, faculty, and staff.
The program concluded with a shared resolve to uphold the values enshrined in the Constitution and continue working towards an inclusive and just society as envisioned by Dr. Ambedkar.
