Jamshedpur, April 22: Tata Steel Zoological Park marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its state-of-the-art Tiger and Lion Enclosures.

The ceremony held yesterday was led by Chanakya Chaudhary, president of the Tata Steel Zoological Society, who formally dedicated the newly constructed lion enclosure to the public.

“The new enclosures represent our commitment to providing the best possible habitats for our animals and enhancing the visitor experience. We are excited to see the positive impact these state-of-the-art facilities will have on both our wildlife and our community,” said Chaudhary.

Constructed by Tata Steel UISL, the enclosures feature modern glass-viewing areas and open-style layouts designed to simulate a natural environment while improving visibility for visitors. These new habitats are among the most advanced in the region for big cats.

The zoo is currently home to two tigresses, Saloni and Sunaina. It recently welcomed a male and a female tiger, Rudra and Meghna, from Bala Saheb Thakrey Zoological Park in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

The tigers were exchanged for a pair of African grey parrots.

Tata zoo also holds the distinction of being the only zoo in India to house a purebred of African lions. The zoo currently cares for three lions—two males and one female.
