Jharkhand News: Two TSPC Naxals arrested with weapons

Ranchi, June 2: Two active Naxals of the banned Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) militant outfit, Sumit Laheri and Manu Singh, were arrested with arms and ammunition in a police operation based on a tip-off received by DIG-cum-SSP Chandan Sinha.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, the SSP revealed that Sumit Laheri was hiding in the border area between Burmu and Barkagaon police stations while receiving treatment for a leg injury.

Acting on this information, a police team was formed under the direction of Rural SP Praveen Pushkar and led by Khunti Sub-Divisional Police Officer.

The team swiftly conducted a raid in Binja village, located at the Burmu-Barkagaon border, and apprehended Sumit Laheri in an injured condition. He was found with TSPC pamphlets in his possession.

Based on information provided by Laheri during interrogation, the police arrested Manu Singh alias Abhimanyu from the same village. He was caught with a pistol, two live bullets, and a locally made firearm used for hunting birds.
