SUBHASH MISHRA

Dhanbad, September 20: Union Bank employees will strike on September 27 in support of their long-standing nine-point demands.

ML Singh, state general secretary of the Jharkhand-based Union Banks Employees Association, announced that employees demonstrated in front of Ranchi Circle branches on Thursday to back their demands. The planned strike will occur on September 27.

Previous agitation and memorandum submission

As part of their agitation programme, employees under the Union Banks Employees Association banner held large demonstrations from September 9 to September 12 across all bank circles in Dhanbad and Ranchi, presenting a memorandum to raise awareness about their demands.

Main demands of the association

“This strike is at an all-India level in Union Banks and we will make it effective in Jharkhand,” said ML Singh.

The main demands of the Employees Association include ensuring minimum wage payments to casual employees as per the 1948 Act, bonus payments by the 1965 Act, a ban on outsourcing that violates the bilateral agreement, adherence to bank policies in human resources administration, and the implementation of agreements made at the joint forum meeting on June 23, 2023.

ML Singh also highlighted that a significant demand is the recruitment of casual employees into the appointment process.
