Dhanbad, April 18: A special team of Dhanbad Police on Saturday arrested an arms supplier allegedly connected to the notorious Wasseypur gang.

The accused, identified as Naushad Alam (42), was caught near the Railway Zonal Training School in Guljarbagh under Bank More police station limits. Police recovered a country-made pistol and two live cartridges from him during a vehicle checking drive.

The arrest was made when Alam, who was riding a bike, failed to produce ownership documents. Upon further search, police discovered the illegal firearm and ammunition. Additionally, the motorcycle was found to be a stolen one.

Accused Linked to Infamous Gangsters
During interrogation, Naushad Alam, son of the late Md Riyaj, confessed to supplying illegal arms and stolen motorcycles to members of the Wasseypur gang, including notorious criminals Prince Khan and Gopi Khan.
Police sources revealed that Prince Khan, wanted in multiple cases of extortion and firing, is currently based in Dubai and continues to operate his gang remotely.
Special Police Drive Led to Arrest
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) Naushad Alam, who led the operation, said the vehicle checking drive was launched following directions from Senior Superintendent of Police HP Janardhanan. The operation was carried out on the road leading to the Railway Zonal Training School in Bhuli.

The special team included DSP Ashutosh Satyam (Sindri), DSP Shankar Kamti (Headquarters-1), Inspector Praveen Kumar (Bank More), Officer-in-Charge Sunil Kumar Ravi (Barbadda), In-Charge Abhinav Kumar (Bhuli), Inspector Saurav Kumar (Bank More), Sub-Inspector Dinesh Kumar, Havildar Subhash Prasad Yadav, and constables Chitranaj Mahto and Narendra Kumar.
