Ramgarh, September 12: Under the Samagra Gram Vikas Program, a joint initiative by KGVK Sanstha and HDFC Bank’s HRDP Project, women from ten villages in Ramgarh district have been empowered to start small-scale industries after receiving training in micro-entrepreneurship development.
The program covered seven villages in Dulmi block (Chatak, Bagrai, Bongai, Koolhi, Pancha, Urba, and Karo) and three villages in Gola block (Tongatu, Serengatu, and Saaram).
Food processing business
Inspired by the training, the Puja Mahila Samuh from Saaram village has launched a tent house service, involving ten women who collaboratively manage the business. Additionally, the Jeevan Jyoti Mahila Mandal from Koolhi village has initiated a food processing business, focusing on grinding wheat, large grains, and spices with the participation of eleven women.

Project Coordinator Somen Mahto praised the women’s enthusiasm and highlighted the program’s goal of fostering entrepreneurship at the village level. “Our aim is to connect women’s groups with sustainable businesses through entrepreneurship training, which will enhance their income. This sector has significant potential at the village level and requires minimal publicity and space,” Mahto stated.
Both small-scale industries were established in August and September 2024.

The event saw the participation of women entrepreneurs such as Gendi Devi, Lalki Devi, Padumlal Devi, Sumin Kumari, Rupa Kumari, and Sangeeta Kumari, alongside project officials including Coordinator Somen Mahto, Assistant Coordinator Ramesh Kumar Mahato, Dharmendra Tiwari, Pinky Devi, Village Coordinator Ravindra Kumar, and Jaleshwar Mahato.
