Villagers said that Sushil had gone near the abandoned mine in the early morning. He might have slipped into the pit that is full of water. Since he did not know how to swim, he drowned in it.  According to a  member of the family, Sushil had been suffering from epilepsy disease. He might have received its attack and fallen into the pit.

The Topchachi police station official said that the body has been sent to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad for post-mortem. Only after getting the report anything could be said about death.
