Jharkhand Sports: Over 4,000 register for Jamshedpur Half Marathon 2024

Jamshedpur, Nov 18: Over 4,000 participants have registered for the Tata Steel Jamshedpur Half Marathon 2024, generating immense excitement ahead of the event scheduled for November 24, 2024.

The marathon will take place at the iconic JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur, promising a thrilling experience for runners of all ages and abilities. Tata Steel, in its second press conference, emphasized its commitment to delivering a world-class event that promotes fitness, community spirit, and sustainability.

Mukul Vinayak Chaudhari, chief, sports, said that the marathon features an AFI-approved and AIMS-certified route, ensuring it meets international standards for competitive and recreational runners. Participants will traverse a scenic and challenging course that begins and ends at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, passing through prominent city landmarks such as CH Area, KS Link Road, Dindli Patch, LIC Ground Sonari, Sai Temple, and Marine Drive.

To cater to a diverse range of participants, the event includes four categories: the Half-Marathon (21.0975 km) for experienced runners, the 10K Run for intermediate runners, the 5K Run for beginners and fitness enthusiasts, and the Anand Run (2K) for families and casual runners.

The total prize pool of ₹9.5 lakhs makes this one of the most lucrative running events in the region.

Chaitanya Bhanu, vice president, operations, Tata Steel said that the company has also announced the introduction of pacers, experienced runners who will guide participants in maintaining consistent pacing and achieving personal bests in the Half-Marathon category. This initiative aims to enhance the overall running experience and foster camaraderie among participants.

A key highlight of the marathon is its focus on sustainability. In collaboration with the Koru Foundation, Tata Steel will implement eco-friendly practices throughout the event, aligning with the company’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility.

Vibhuti Adesara, head, sports said that ahead of the race, the Jamshedpur Half-Marathon Expo 2024 will be held on November 22-23 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex. This two-day event will include the distribution of race bibs, timing chips, and kits, along with exhibitor booths showcasing the latest offerings from leading sports and fitness brands.
