Hazaribagh, Sept 20: The two-day Ashmita Badminton Tournament for girls begins today at the Badminton Indoor Stadium, Curzon Ground, Hazaribagh. Hazaribagh Sadar SDO Baidyanath Kamti will attend the opening ceremony as the chief guest and inaugurate the championship.
According to Hazaribagh Badminton Association (HBA) secretary Jasbeer Singh Jaggi, the tournament is exclusively for girls in the under-15, under-17, and under-19 categories.

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Badminton Association of India (BAI) have entrusted the Jharkhand Badminton Association (JBA) with the responsibility of organising the competition. The JBA, in turn, delegated the task to the Hazaribagh Badminton Association.

In line with SAI’s directive, similar girls’ badminton competitions will also be held in Chaibasa, Jamshedpur, and Dumka.
Hazaribagh district association had successfully hosted the Jharkhand State Senior and Under-19 Badminton Championship cum selection trials from August 22 to 24. Based on this success, the state association once again entrusted Jasbeer Singh Jaggi with the responsibility of conducting the current tournament.

Organisers stated that the aim of the tournament is to create awareness, provide motivation, and guide budding players to prepare them for higher-level competitions.
“We cordially invite sports lovers, parents, and citizens to attend in large numbers and encourage these young girls, making this event a grand success,” said the organisers.
