West Singhbhum students to compete in DAV National Chess

Dhanbad, Nov 30: Four students from West Singhbhum district have departed for Delhi to participate in the DAV National Under-17 Chess Championship, which will take place from December 2 to 4.

The selected students are Kush Mundhra and Harsh Murarka (boys); and Soumya Prabha Soi and Samridhi Priya (girls).

Basant Khandelwal, General Secretary of the West Singhbhum District Chess Association (WSDCA), shared that all four players earned their spots in the national championship based on their performance at the DAV Zonal level competition.

Three of the students are internationally rated players and have qualified for the national championship for the second consecutive year.

They receive training at the weekly chess camp held at the Sitaram Rungta Recreation Hall in Chaibasa, where Basant Khandelwal, an international-rated player from Jharkhand, provides coaching.

WSDCA President Mukund Rungta congratulated the selected students on qualifying for the national championship and expressed confidence in their ability to perform well in the competition.
