Daltonganj, February 8: The primary health centre (PHC) at Ramgarh block in Palamu has not yet been upgraded despite this block having 31 villages of the particularly vulnerable tribal group out of the total 44 villages here under this Ramgarh block limits. This block has seven panchayats and 95 polling stations.
On Wednesday, Civil Surgeon Dr Anil Kumar visited this PHC about 25 km from Daltonganj.
Speaking to the Jharkhand Story, Dr Anil Kumar said, “Routine immunisation was on. 15 children were to get their various immunisation doses. 13 out of 15 got it. I was told of the absence of 2 children following their illness of some sort.”
Dr Anil Kumar said the PHC Ramgarh is without electricity and water. There is no electricity pole around. It’s a great challenge to get electricity here.

“I will write to the electricity office to take the initiative for its electrification. As for water, deep boring is to be done,” he said.
Normal delivery is not conducted here due to a lack of electricity and water. He said, “We have one ANM here who said normal delivery is possible if electricity and water are available here.”
As part of the stop-gap arrangement, the health department is toying with the idea of providing one generator set, inverter, battery, etc., for this PHC to look vibrant,” said the civil surgeon.
The PHC Ramgarh is at the far end of the Palamu district, where there is a strong need to push in more and more facilities, said sources.
