Jamshedpur, July 31:  IMD issued a heavy rain alert in isolated places across Jharkhand in the next 48 hours.

Thunderstorms and lightning are also likely at isolated places over the state today.

Weathermen said heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over western, southern and adjoining central parts of the state.

Tomorrow, August 1, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over north-western, north-central and adjoining north-eastern parts of the state.

On August 2, Friday, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over southwestern and north-eastern parts of the state.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was passing through Jaisalmer, Ajmer, Gwalior, Churk, Balasore and thence east-southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.

A cyclonic circulation lies over Jharkhand and its neighbourhood between 3.1 and 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height.

Jharkhand was currently facing a rain deficit of 43 per cent with all 24 districts still figuring in the rain losers list.
