Jamshedpur, Jan 19: The court of additional district judge-I on Friday sentenced a 28-year-old youth Mahfouz Alam to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor girl in Chakradharpur in West Singhbhum in 2019.
Apart from pronouncing a rigorous jail term, the court has also slapped a Rs 25,000 penalty on the convict to be paid under separate sections.
A resident of Sector 18 in Chakradharpur, the convict Mahfouz Alam had lured a minor girl into a secluded place where he had raped her.

Later the victim had informed her parents about what meted out to her, leading the latter to lodge an FIR against the culprit.
On the basis of the FIR, the police had registered a case under Sections 363, 366(A) and 376 (3) of the IPC against the accused.
Despite the accused being a stranger, the police had investigated the case by taking technical assistance and finally succeeded in reaching out to the culprit.
Eventually, the accused was arrested and lodged in the jail.
