THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK
New Delhi, June 9: As the Narendra Modi-led government marks 11 years in office, BJP President and Union Minister JP Nadda said on Monday that India is now poised to take a major leap towards becoming a developed nation, driven by the Modi government’s consistent and result-oriented governance.

Focused Governance Lifts Millions Out of Poverty
Addressing a press conference, Nadda highlighted the Modi government’s commitment to delivering on promises rather than relying on slogans. Citing concrete outcomes, he said, “We never came with a slogan to eradicate poverty — we demonstrated it through action. In the past decade, 25 crore people have risen out of poverty, and extreme poverty in the country has reduced by 80 per cent.”

Nadda underscored the government’s inclusive development model, with a special focus on women, SC, ST, and OBC communities.

“Women-led development has been a core priority. From increasing paid maternity leave to promoting Self-Help Groups and empowering ‘Lakhpati Didis,’ women today are leading progress in various sectors, including space exploration,” he said, referencing women’s contributions to projects like Chandrayaan.
He added that the government has worked with a deep concern for all segments of society, ensuring that no group is left behind.

India’s Global Leadership and Pandemic Response
The BJP chief also spoke about India’s global leadership and resilience, pointing to the country’s exemplary COVID-19 management. “India conducted the world’s largest and fastest vaccination drive, delivering 220 crore free vaccine doses. No other nation responded to the pandemic with the efficiency and scale that India demonstrated,” he remarked.
Nadda listed other major rescue and relief operations that showcased India’s proactive governance, including Operation Ganga, Operation Devi Shakti, Operation Rahat, Operation Maitri, and Operation Vaccine Maitri.

Economy Poised to Enter Global Top Four
Highlighting India’s economic strides, Nadda said the country has climbed from being the world’s 10th largest economy to the fifth, with fresh IMF data expected to place India in the fourth position soon. “We are the fastest-growing economy in the world,” he noted.
He also spoke about India’s leadership in global humanitarian efforts, recalling how Operation Ganga not only brought back Indian citizens from Ukraine but also helped rescue citizens from other nations.

Driving Infrastructure Growth
Reflecting on the government’s approach to infrastructure development, Nadda cited the recently inaugurated Chenab Bridge as an example of Modi’s commitment to completing long-pending projects.
“The foundation stone for the Chenab Bridge was laid in 1995. Atal ji declared it a project of national importance, and it was finally completed and dedicated to the nation by PM Modi on June 6, 2025. Postponing problems has neither been the policy nor the practice of this government,” he asserted.
To mark the 11-year milestone, the Union government has also released a comprehensive e-book detailing its achievements across multiple sectors.
Narendra Modi first took office as India’s Prime Minister on May 26, 2014, and is now serving a historic third consecutive term, having been sworn in again on June 9 last year following the BJP-led NDA’s electoral victory.
