Jamshedpur, Dec 11: Jharkhand continued to reel under winter’s intensifying chill, with Kanke (in Ranchi) recording a biting minimum temperature of 3.2°C, the lowest in the state over the past 24 hours.
The sharp drop has marked the onset of a cold wave in isolated pockets of central Jharkhand, according to the IMD’s latest observations from the Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
Despite the plunge in night temperatures, no significant synoptic system is currently affecting Jharkhand.

The IMD notes that north-westerly winds are prevailing in the lower tropospheric levels, maintaining a dry and cold airmass over the region. Dry weather prevailed across the state with no recorded rainfall.
Daytime temperatures remained relatively moderate, with Chaibasa registering the highest maximum temperature of 29.4°C.
Other major cities like Ranchi, Jamshedpur, and Daltonganj reported mild departures from normal daytime temperatures, but the overnight chill remained the dominant feature.
