New Delhi, Dec 27: Under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (UAPA), the Union Home Ministry on Wednesday designated the ‘Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Masarat Alam faction)’ (MLJK-MA) as an ‘Unlawful Association’.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Masarat Alam faction) (MLJK-MA) has supported terrorist acts and engaged in anti-national and separatist activities.

Anti-India and pro-Pakistan propaganda

The official statement states that Masarat Alam Bhat’s MLJK-MA “is known for its anti-India and pro-Pakistan propaganda.”

Additionally, it said that the faction’s goals were to “realise its merger with Pakistan and establish Islamic State in Jammu and Kashmir” as well as “get freedom of Jammu and Kashmir from India.”

Additionally, the notification said that the faction’s members “have been indulging in the secessionist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Amit Shah confirms ban

Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister in a post on X said, “The ‘Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Masarat Alam faction)’/MLJK-MA is declared as an ‘Unlawful Association’ under UAPA. This organization and its members are involved in anti-national and secessionist activities in J&K supporting terrorist activities and inciting people to establish Islamic rule in J&K.”

He further said that no one would be spared for acting against India’s integrity, unity and sovereignty.

“The PM Narendra Modi government’s message is loud and clear that anyone acting against the unity, sovereignty, and integrity of our nation will not be spared and face the full wrath of the law,” he added.
