NSS intensifies awareness drive ahead of mega blood camp at Sona Devi University

Jamshedpur, Dec 16: To ensure the success of the mega blood donation camp scheduled for December 22, the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Sona Devi University has launched an intensive public awareness campaign across Ghatshila.

As part of the outreach, NSS volunteers organised a special awareness programme in the Fuldungri–Ghatsila College Road area, engaging local residents, youth, and shopkeepers.

The drive aimed to educate the public on the importance of blood donation, address common misconceptions, and encourage voluntary participation, emphasising that blood donation is a safe process that saves lives without adversely affecting the donor’s health.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr Neelmani Kumar, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences; Dr Shivchand Jha, NSS Programme Officer; and Patrari Mali.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Kumar described blood donation as “the greatest service to humanity” and urged young people to come forward and spread a positive message in society.

Dr Jha highlighted the core philosophy of the National Service Scheme—“Not Me, But You”—and called blood donation a mahadaan (supreme donation), appealing for maximum participation in the upcoming camp.

Mali specifically encouraged women and young girls to actively take part, underlining the need to expand awareness among all sections of society.
