Opposition will face worse results if they disrupt Parliament: Pralhad Joshi

New Delhi, Dec 3: Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi stated on Sunday that the Opposition would suffer “worse results” if they disrupt the Parliament, as the Winter Session of Parliament is scheduled to begin on Monday.

Pralhad Joshi stated, “If the Opposition disrupts Parliament, it will face worse results than what have come today”.

19 bills including three key bills to be considered

The upcoming Winter Session, slated from December 4 to December 22, is expected to be contentious as it will feature the presentation of reports from the Ethics Committee regarding the ‘cash-for-query’ accusations against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra. Additionally, three significant bills aiming to replace the IPC, CrPC, and the Evidence Act will be tabled during this period.

The minister stated that during the Parliament Session, the consideration will be underway for 19 bills and two financial items.

In a previous statement to the press, the minister stated that the central government is prepared to engage in discussions on “all the issues” emphasizing the importance of adhering to “rules and procedures” during the process.

“There are 15 sittings… We requested that the atmosphere should be maintained for structured debates. The discussions should be held following rules and procedures. The government is ready to hold discussions on all the issues. The government is fully prepared for a structured debate,” Joshi stated.

All-party meeting yesterday

During the all-party meeting convened on Saturday before the Winter Session, he urged opposition parties to create a conducive atmosphere.

The all-party meeting became contentious as TMC leaders expressed strong disapproval of the central government, alleging that the report from the Ethics Committee against Moitra was leaked before being officially presented in Parliament.
