Daltonganj, November 15: Palamu administration has reinforced its already launched UDAY (Unnati Doorasth Adivasi Yojna) for the vulnerable tribal community as a neo Ulgulan of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, retaining the primitiveness of the tribal but giving them an impetus for upward economic and social mobility.

If the DC Sameera S urged for a sustainable development of the vulnerable primitive tribals, DFO Satyam Kumar asked for preserving the tribal way of life, Additional Collector Kundan Kumar alluding to an anthropologist who propounded the theory of National Park for the vulnerable tribals outlined the salient features of UDAY and DDC Md Jawed Hussain describing how Birsa Munda’s Ulgulan against the nexus of the Mahajan and the British rulers was smashed, the 25th year celebration of statehood of Jharkhand ended on a note of DC Sameera S who asked for transparent and accountability with more and more Jan Bhagidari for a prosperous Palamu and Jharkhand as well.

Many in the gathering interpreted DC’s emphasis on transparency and accountability as a grim reminder to unscrupulous officials to mend their ways since a couple of officers have been shortlisted by the civil society activists for a probe either by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) or by the ED.

Amidst the food for thought, there was a brilliant mix of song, dancing and music where a band of little girls just stole the heart of the jam-packed Pdt Deen Dayal Upadhyay Smriti Bhavan in Daltonganj on Saturday, where this grand gala celebration was held.

SP Reeshma Ramesan counted the progress of Jharkhand in these 25 years by narrating a phone call that was made to her at night by a man asking her if it would be safe for him to travel to Ranchi via Palamu at night.

Reeshma Ramesan said, “I assured the caller to travel to Ranchi in all peace and safety. There was a time when it was difficult to travel beyond Parwa More at night. Today, it’s quite a different scenario. Jharkhand has progressed. And it will keep going ahead.”

However, SP became quite emotional remembering how her two ‘sathis’ lost their lives fighting the extremists recently.

DDC Md Jawed Hussain reminded that Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) is working on an initiative called ‘From Waste to Toy’ in the Aganbadi Kendras.

DFO Satyam Kumar spoke about geographical challenges that the vulnerable primitive tribals face and here the administration is committed to make them grow in the midst of Nature.

24 received the community Van Pattas. Boys and girls got prizes for a variety of their activities.

The 2025 celebration was neither any extravagant nor pompous. It was plain and impressive. It could have been a far more well-meaning show had the Common Man been at the centre.
