New Delhi, Oct 14: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that today, some countries openly violate international rules, some try to weaken them, while others aim to dominate the next century by creating their own rules.

He made these remarks on Tuesday in Delhi at the United Nations Troop Contributing Countries’ (UNTCC) Chiefs Conclave, hosted by India for the first time.

Singh emphasized that India has consistently advocated for reforms in old international structures and remains committed to upholding a rules-based international order.

He stated that peace is a core principle of India’s philosophy of non-violence and truth, championed by Mahatma Gandhi. He highlighted that peacekeeping goes beyond a military task and represents a collective responsibility. Singh stressed the importance of placing humanity above conflicts and violence.

The Defence Minister recalled that over the decades, nearly 2,90,000 Indian security personnel have participated in more than 50 UN peacekeeping missions. India has earned global recognition for its professional skills, courage, and compassion.

He said that from Congo and Korea to South Sudan and Lebanon, Indian forces have worked alongside the international community to protect the vulnerable and aid in societal reconstruction.
