Chennai, March 21: Ruturaj Gaikwad has been appointed as the new skipper of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the upcoming IPL season after Mahendra Singh Dhoni stepped down from his position as the captain of the team.

Dhoni’s lengthy tenure as the captain of the CSK, during which he guided the team to five IPL championships, comes to an end with this decision.

Dhoni captained the CSK for 212 IPL games, with 128 victories and 82 defeats.

Notably, at the beginning of the 2022 season, Dhoni gave all-arounder Ravindra Jadeja the captaincy mantle, but after just eight games, he came back to lead the team once more after Jadeja stepped down.
