SNMMCH, BCCL, BIT Sindri, DLSA celebrate International Yoga Day in Dhanbad

Dhanbad, June 21: The 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated with enthusiasm across Dhanbad by various institutions, including Shaheed Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH), Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), BIT Sindri, and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA).

At SNMMCH, a yoga camp was organized on campus where MBBS students, doctors, and faculty members participated under the guidance of Patanjali yoga experts.

The session was led by Principal Dr. S.K. Chourasia, who emphasized the importance of this year’s Yoga Day theme, “One Earth, One Health.” He highlighted yoga’s dual benefit of maintaining physical fitness and promoting inner peace and resilience.

Yoga Celebration by BCCL and District Ayush Samiti

The District Ayush Samiti organized a large-scale yoga event at Nehru Sports Complex in Koylanagar. The session witnessed the participation of BCCL officials, senior police officers, and public representatives, making it one of the most significant gatherings in the district.

BCCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Samiran Dutta, Dhanbad MP Dhullu Mahto, Sadar MLA Raj Sinha, City SP Ritvik Srivastava, Rural SP Kapil Choudhary, and DSP (Law & Order) Naushad Alam joined the two-hour session from 7 am to 9 am, reflecting the increasing adoption of yoga across all sectors of society.

DLSA Marks Yoga Day in Court Premises

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) organized a yoga camp on the district court premises to mark the occasion.

Principal District and Sessions Judge Virendra Kumar Tiwari addressed the gathering and described yoga as an integral part of Indian tradition that has long been used for healing and wellness. He stated that global recognition of yoga is rooted in its effectiveness in promoting a healthy and happy life.

DLSA Secretary Mayank Tushar Topno also spoke at the event, noting that the stresses of modern life are leading to psychological and emotional issues—problems that yoga can help alleviate through relaxation and mindfulness.

BIT Sindri Faculty Members Join Yoga Celebration

Faculty members of BIT Sindri also observed International Yoga Day with a session held at the Community Hall from 6 am to 9 am. The event was led by Sports In-charge Prof. Rajiv Kumar Verma and attended by several senior professors.

The faculty stressed the importance of integrating yoga into daily life and encouraged the academic community to adopt it as a tool for both physical well-being and mental clarity.
