Jamshedpur, Sept 21: Tata Steel Foundation, in collaboration with the Jharkhand government, came up with its third Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in the state, ITI Chandil, under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
This marks the fourth ITI established by Tata Steel Foundation, furthering its commitment to enhancing employability and promoting socio-economic development in the region.
Previous ITI successes and new partnership
Tata Steel Foundation previously established two model ITIs in Jharkhand: ITI Tamar (2012) and ITI Jagannathpur (2017). Both institutions have set benchmarks for vocational training and have consistently facilitated placements in renowned companies, both within India and internationally.
Building on this success, Jharkhand government has entrusted Tata Steel Foundation to manage ITI Chandil under the PPP mode. Although the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in 2022, operations were delayed due to pending affiliation from the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), which was successfully secured in 2024.
The inaugural event was graced by the presence of the MLA Ichagarh, Sabita Mahato, as the chief guest.
Tata Steel Foundation director Chanakya Chaudhary and Chief Executive Officer Sourav Roy were present during the inaugural function.

The institute’s state-of-the-art infrastructure and practical, hands-on training are designed to meet the latest technological advancements and industry standards.
Impact on regional development
The establishment of ITI Chandil is aligned with the broader goal of uplifting the socio-economic status of the local population by providing employable skills.
The institute is expected to address the growing demand for skilled workers, encourage entrepreneurship, and foster innovation in the region.
It will also contribute significantly to the region’s economic development by bridging the skill gap in key industries.
