Western Disturbance restricts Celsius fall in Jharkhand

Jamshedpur, Jan 17: Back-to-back Western Disturbances passing through northern parts of the country have restricted Celsius fall in Jharkhand. A Western Disturbance blocks the free flow of north-westerly currents.

The minimum temperature was hovering between 10 to 12 degrees Celsius in most districts across Jharkhand during the past 48 hours.

Ranchi today recorded a minimum temperature of 10.6 degrees Celsius while Jamshedpur recorded 10.2 degrees.

Daltonganj today recorded a minimum temperature of 11.6 degrees Celsius while Bokaro recorded 12.1 degrees.

Khunti was the coldest place across Jharkhand today with the Celsius notching 8.5 degrees Celsius. Gumla today recorded a minimum temperature of 9.5 degrees Celsius while Lohardaga recorded 9.6 degrees.

Satellite pictures indicated that a Western Disturbance as a cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan and the neighbourhood persists and is seen between 3.1 and 4.5 km above the mean sea level.

The trough aloft in middle and upper tropospheric levels with its axis at 5.8 Km above mean sea level running roughly along Long. 72°E to the north of Lat. 25°N also persists.

An induced cyclonic circulation over south Haryana persists extending upto 1.5 Km above mean sea level.

A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Northwest India from January 18 and another from January 22.
