 Dhanbad, May 26: Three persons died and three others were injured in a Maruti Van – container collision on inter-state GT Road under Barbadda police station, around 12 km away from here on Sunday afternoon.

  Police officials said the incident occurred around 3 pm.   The Maruti Van was going from Jharia to Rajganj while the container was going towards Bengal when both collided head-on. After the collision the heavy container in the course of escaping dragged the Maruti van around 200 metres with it.

   Police officials said seven members were on the Maruti van who were going to Kalyanpur for a marriage settlement.

  Getting information, deputy superintendent of police Shankar Kamti and Barbadda police Station officer-in-charge Sunil Kumar Ravi reached the spot and started the rescue operation. The driver of the Maruti van who had been trapped in the crashed vehicle died on the spot. All injured were sent to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH).

   SNMMCH emergency in-charge Dr Ganesh Kumar Gindauria and surgery department emergency duty in-charge of the day Dr Anil Kumar said that two persons were brought dead while one succumbed to injury during treatment.

  “Three injured persons are under treatment and we can make comment on them only after 48 hours,” said Dr Gindauria.
