Dhanbad, June 10: JEE Advance 2024 qualified students of the country interested in admission into graduate courses at IIT ISM Dhanbad today participated in an open session programme and interacted with the director of the institute, Prof Sukumar Mishra, over available facilities.
During an hour of virtual interaction ‘Open House’ (from 11.30 am), students were allowed to discuss campus facilities, infrastructure and different academic programs with the institute director.
98-year-old rich legacy of IIT ISM
The director answered the queries of students and satiated their thirst for knowledge about the 98-year-old rich legacy of the institute.
The participants also made a virtual campus tour during the institute. They also explored a wide range of hotspots other than the academic facilities, like Lower Ground, Upper Ground, Sports Complex, Student Activity Centre, Swimming Pool, Gymnasium, Boxing Ring, Billiards Room, and Squash Complex.

Question-and-Answer Session
The curious students also participated in a Question-and-Answer Session (Q&A) during the Open House where they asked a wide range of questions from the institute director Prof Sukumar Mishra.
An IIT ISM official said the students also got the opportunity to interact with the different deans of the institute and get details of the facilities in their respective departments.
ISM was established during British Raj era
IIT ISM has a rich legacy of over 98 years in Mining, Petroleum and Earth sciences. It was established during the British Raj era as the Indian School of Mines and Applied Geology in 1926 on the lines of the Royal School of Mines, London and initially offered courses in Mining and Applied Geology only.
The institute got the tag of Indian Institute of Technology in 2016 and rechristened as IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.
