Jamshedpur, June 13: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre extended the heat wave and severe heat wave conditions which are currently prevailing over most parts of Jharkhand’ till June 16.

Weathermen said there will be no respite from sweltering condition till June 16 as Jharkhand is facing one of the worst summers in recent years.

Severe heat wave condition would prevail at isolated places of north-western and south-eastern parts of the state today.

The relentless heat wave and severe heat wave are continuing over the state for more than two weeks now with day’s temperature at some places continuously recording between 43 and 45 degree Celsius.

There is an alert of thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty wind (max wind speed: 30-40 kmph) at isolated places over north-eastern, central and southern parts of the state tomorrow, June 14.

Severe heat wave conditions would also prevail at isolated places of north-western and south-eastern parts of the state on June 15.

Monsoon Update 

Southwest monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Maharashtra, entire Telangana and some more parts of Chhattisgarh.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon was passing through Navsari, Jalgaon, Amravati, Chandrapur, Bijapur, Sukma, Malkangiri, Vizianagaram and Islampur.

Conditions are favourable for further advancement of southwest monsoon into some more parts of Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh and northwest Bay of Bengal during the next 3-4 days.

Synoptic Features

The east-west trough runs from cyclonic circulation over East Uttar Pradesh to Nagaland across Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Assam at 0.9 km above mean sea level.

The trough in lower tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 1.5 km above mean sea level roughly along Long. 86°E to the north of Lat. 22°N persists.
