Jharkhand Weather: Severe heat wave to continue in Palamu and Kolhan region today

Jamshedpur, June 15:  Severe heat wave, which has affected normal life, will continue to prevail in Palamu and Kolhan region today, stated a weather bulletin issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

According to the forecast, severe heat wave wherein the day’s temperature records above normal by over five degrees Celsius, will prevail at isolated places over north-western (Palamu region) and south-eastern (Kolhan and its adjoining region) parts of the state today.

Heat wave conditions would also prevail at a few places over north-western, adjoining central (Ranchi and Bokaro) and south-western parts of the state today.

Weathermen also did not rule out the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty wind (max wind speed: 40-50 Kmph) at isolated places over north-eastern, central and southern parts of the state today.

Heat wave conditions would also prevail at isolated places over north-western and south-eastern parts of the state tomorrow, Sunday.

Monsoon Update 

The Northern Limit of Monsoon continues to pass through, Navsari, Jalgaon, Amravati, Chandrapur, Bijapur, Sukma, Malkangiri, Vizianagaram and Islampur.

The movement of monsoon currents has slowed down.

Conditions are favourable for further advancement of the southwest monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh and northwest Bay of Bengal, some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, remaining parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal and some parts of Bihar during the next 4-5 days.

Synoptic Features

The east-west trough from northwest Bihar to Nagaland was running from central Uttar Pradesh to east Meghalaya across north Bihar and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal at 0.9 km above mean sea level.

A cyclonic circulation lies over east Bihar and adjoining Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim at 1.5 km above the mean sea level.
