New Delhi, June 15: The Delhi unit of the Congress on Saturday staged a ‘Matka-breaking’ protest at various places over the water crisis prevailing in the national capital. The protest began at 10 am in the 280 block of the capital.
Carrying pots on their heads and Congress flags in their hands, the protesters raised slogans against the AAP-led Delhi government and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as well as against the BJP-led central government. Later, they smashed the pots on the ground and broke them.
Congress demands to call special session of Delhi Assembly
Congress’ Delhi unit president Devendra Yadav also joined the protest. During this, he demanded a special session of the assembly to discuss the issue of the water crisis in the capital.

On Friday, he had alleged that the Delhi government has not taken proper steps to overcome the water shortage in the city, due to which people have to run after water tankers.
Delhi’s Water Minister Atishi had said on Friday that due to less water being released into the Yamuna River, there is a continuous shortage of water in Delhi.
AAP accuses BJP-ruled Haryana of not giving Delhi’s share of water
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Haryana of not giving Delhi its share of water.
Sharing the figures, Atishi said that the quantity of water was 1002 MGD on June 6, which was 993 MGD the next day i.e. on June 7, 990 on June 8, 978 MGD on June 9, 958 MGD on June 10, 919 on June 11, 951 on June 12 and 939 MGD on June 13.
