Jharkhand Weather: Early morning rain at several places, max. temp drops

Jamshedpur, June 18: A north-south trough running from north Bihar to southern parts of Gangetic West Bengal at 1.5 km above mean sea level triggered early morning thundershowers accompanied by lightning today.

Several places in Kolhan including Jamshedpur experienced a good spell of rain which brought down the maximum temperature by several notches.

IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre had earlier predicted a two to three degree Celsius fall in maximum temperature during the next 48 hours.

The forecast also predicted heat wave conditions at a few isolated places of north-western and adjoining northern parts of the state today.

Tomorrow, thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty wind (max wind speed: 40-50 kmph) are likely at a few isolated places over the state.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon continues to pass through Navsari, Jalgaon, Amravati, Chandrapur, Bijapur, Sukma, Malkangiri, Vizianagaram and Islampur.

Conditions are favourable for further advancement of the southwest monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, northwest Bay of Bengal, some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, remaining parts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal and some parts of Bihar during next three days.
