Jamshedpur, July 5: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised the 11th edition of Manufacturing Conclave East at The Cruze in Jamshedpur today with the theme of Future Ready to Future Proof Manufacturing.
Eminent leaders from the industry deliberated on emerging technologies and their potential to future-proof the manufacturing sector. With a focus on competitiveness, inclusiveness and sustainability, the conclave aimed to future-proof the manufacturing sector to be future-ready.
Kamal Bali, President and Managing Director, Volvo Group India Pvt Ltd graced the 11th edition of CII Manufacturing Conclave East.
He stated “Admist Middle East war zone and other geopolitical challenges, other countries are experiencing a decline in the GDP growth rate and in this havoc, India is in the spotlight as it has achieved a GDP growth of 8.2% this year. If India continues to achieve an 8% growth rate for 20 years, it would be able to lift millions of Indians out of poverty as it has a low per capita growth”.
Suvendra Behera, Chairman, CII Eastern Region & Vice Chairman & Managing Director, RSB Transmissions (I) Ltd said ‘’Manufacturing sector contributes 16-17 % of India’s GDP with a target to contribute to at least 25% of the country’s GDP by 2025.

He majorly expressed his concern about “Braindrain” where intelligent minds are exiting India to work for foreign nations. If good skill sets and training centres are established here in India, the skill set will boon and will get youngsters to work for the nation.
Ranjot Singh, Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council & Managing Director, Emdet Jamshedpur Private Limited inaugurated the session with his opening remarks. He said, “By 2030, India will become the leading manufacturing hub.”
He also stated that “The Eastern Region is a cornerstone of India’s industrial prowess and cannot be overlooked in the journey to global manufacturing leadership. He also said CII can create a conductive and collaborative environment by taking up matters that are of utmost importance in the fast-pacing economy.
Ramphal Nehra, Chairman, CII ER Manufacturing Sub Committee & Director & Plant Manager, Tata Cummins Pvt Ltd said, “Manufacturing is one of the most important pillars of our country”. He stated that government schemes and initiatives are helping our nation in experiencing a dynamic growth. He also quoted, “Make in India is a wide scope for investment and manufacturing”.
Ujjal Chakraborti, Immediate Past Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council & Managing Director, Jamshedpur Continuous Annealing and Processing Company Pvt Ltd said, Jharkhand with its abundant mineral resources and strategic location has carved a niche for itself in India’s manufacturing sector, particularly in the steel, automotive and automotive components industry. He also mentioned about Jharkhand’s GSDP which is heavily influenced by its industrial output.
Several other eminent speakers shared their views at the conclave.
The 11th edition of CII Manufacturing Conclave East witnessed more than 200 participants.
