Dhanbad, August 12: The brutal murder of Kolkata RG Kar Government Hospital trainee lady doctor has put senior residents, junior residents and interns of Jharkhand medical colleges, including Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) Ranchi, on the boil.
Meeting to discuss the protest process
IMA Junior Doctors’ Network (JDN) president Dr Vikash Kumar (RIMS) and secretary Dr Raghvendra Kumar (Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital, Jamshedpur) said that senior residents/ junior doctors of medical colleges are so much in shock and feared from Kolkata incident that they are unable to decide how to protest.
“A meeting of JDN has been called today to discuss and decide on the protest process. We are also waiting for direction from the Indian Medical Association state body”, said Dr Raghvendra Kumar.

FORDA’s indefinite protest across the country
A trainee woman doctor on night duty at RG Kar Hospital Kolkata was found murdered two days ago.
The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has called indefinite strike in government hospitals across the country from today in protest against Kolkata RG Kar Government Hospital.
Discussion on protest after consultation and discussion: JDN secretary
JDN secretary Dr Raghvendra Kumar said that senior residents of Jharkhand medical colleges can’t join in the indefinite strike call of FSRD on such short notice and without proper discussion of all stakeholders. Decisions of any kind of protest will be taken in consultation and discussion.
“Of course, all senior residents, junior residents and interns of state’s medical colleges are aghast from the Kolkata incident and fear that such an incident can happen at any hospital. So, we will at our meeting also discuss over safety of junior doctors and place the demand before the government”, said Dr Raghvendra.
Sources said Junior Doctors Association (JDA) RIMS president Ankit Kumar and vice-president Dr Abhishel Hansda have also supported JDN’s protest against the Kolkata incident.
SNMMCH Dhanbad, PJ MCH Dumka, SBMCH Hazaribagh and MMCH Palamu senior residents have also authorised JDN to decide on the protest.
