Jamshedpur, Sept 18: The good spell of rain caused by the depression over neighbouring Gangetic West Bengal brought down the state’s rain deficit to 1 per cent.
Statistics revealed that against a normal of 935 mm, the state till September 17 received rainfall of 922 mm, resulting in a one per cent deficit
Except for Chatra, Deoghar, East Singhbhum, Godda, Gumla, Hazaribagh, Jamtara, Khunti, Lohardaga, Pakur, Sahebganj and West Singhbhum all the other 12 districts including Ranchi figures in the surplus list.
Fair weather condition is expected to prevail from today as the deep depression, which caused heavy rainfall during the past three to four days, is gradually becoming weak.
Satellite pictures suggested that the deep depression will continue to move west-northwestwards during the subsequent 24 hours.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Amritsar, Rohtak, Shahjahanpur, Lucknow, Daltonganj, the centre of Deep depression over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand and thence southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal.
According to weathermen, the maximum temperature across Jharkhand is expected to witness three to four degrees Celsius rise in the next 72 hours.
