Jamshedpur, Jan 6: Mango, the gateway to steel city from NH-33 has become a hub for garbage accumulation, with heaps of waste visible everywhere due to the civic body’s negligence.
Be it the landmark Dimna Road or hospitals, hotels and police stations, piles of trash can be found in every corner of Mango
The problem is getting worse with every passing day leading to the suffering of Mango residents.
Mango is administered by the Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC), a local urban body. It has a population of around 5 lakh.
Due to the increasing heaps of garbage, the roads have become narrow and the local people are falling prey to filth and diseases.
Garbages have not been cleared for the last three weeks or so which has made life miserable for the residents.

Municipal Negligence and Lack of Dumping Site
Mango Notified Area Committee is yet to find a permanent place to dump garbage, which is affecting the garbage collection process. Locals believe that the authorities are not bothered about the problem, while it is seriously affecting their health and quality of life.
Efforts Prove Futile
The public representatives and the civic body authorities are engaged in solving this problem, but no concrete solution has been found so far.
On Sunday morning, garbage was collected in four vehicles, but due to the unavailability of a dumping site, the process of garbage clearance was affected.
Assurance of Civic Body
Special officer of the Mango Notified Area Committee Suresh Yadav said that the problem of garbage collection will be solved soon. He said they are continuously making efforts to resolve the issue.
Notably, the problem of garbage collection in Mango is lingering for quite some time now leading to immense trouble for the local people.
Efforts are being made by the authorities to find a quick solution but to no avail.
Sometimes the garbage is ferried to a dumping site at Adityapur while at times they are also dumped at the Marine Drive.

There has been a recent protest over the dumping of garbage at a new site at Bara in Sidhgora.
Officials are keeping their fingers crossed.
Until a proper garbage dumping site is permanently fixed, this problem will continue to persist.
