Jamshedpur, April 11: In a significant step towards nurturing emotionally intelligent and ethically grounded educators, Tarapore School, in collaboration with Initiatives of Change (IofC), hosted a two-day transformative workshop on Compassion, Empathy, and Mindfulness for teachers across Jamshedpur.
The workshop aimed at equipping educators with vital life skills to help create inclusive, emotionally aware, and resilient school environments. The initiative emphasized the need for introspection, value-based education, and emotional balance in an increasingly high-pressure academic atmosphere.
The workshop was inaugurated in the presence of Chief Guest Colonel Vinay Ahuja, Commanding Officer of 37 Jharkhand Battalion NCC, and Guest of Honour Saurav Roy, CEO of Tata Steel Foundation. Both dignitaries applauded the initiative, underlining the urgent need to integrate emotional well-being into mainstream education.

“This workshop is a timely intervention that goes beyond textbooks and it nurtures the very core of what it means to be an educator and a guide to the next generation,” said Saurav Roy in his address.
The sessions were led by a distinguished panel of experts: Vijayam Kartha, a veteran educationist and pioneer in values-based learning; Dr. Sangeeta Srivastava, an acclaimed academic leader; Dr. Amit Mukherjee, medical expert and wellness advocate; Saloni Priya, psychologist and founder of the Ummeed Foundation.
These experts guided participants through reflective exercises, group discussions, and real-world strategies to foster mindfulness and compassion in classrooms and beyond.
The event was seamlessly coordinated by Salil Roy, an active member of IofC, and Ishita Dey, Principal of Tarapore School.

“Education is not just about intellect, but also about heart and conscience. This workshop is a testimony to our belief in holistic learning,” shared Principal Ishita Dey.
With over 100 educators attending, the workshop concluded on a note of shared purpose—to inspire future generations not just academically, but with compassion, mindfulness, and a strong moral compass.
