Jamshedpur, May 3: Thunderstorms paired with lightning and gusty winds are set to sweep across the state over the next four days, as pre-monsoon weather systems grow more active, according to the latest meteorological updates.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the following conditions:

May 3: Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 50–60 Kmph are likely at isolated places across the state, except in north-western districts, where wind speeds may reach 40–50 kmph.

May 4: Similar weather is expected, with gusts of 40–50 Kmph likely over most parts of the state except the north-west.

May 5: Thunderstorm activity continues, though with reduced intensity. Winds are expected to blow at 30–40 Kmph, mainly over central and southern regions.

May 6: The focus of weather activity will shift to north-eastern and south-eastern parts of the state, with thunderstorms and gusts between 30–40 Kmph.

Meteorological Cause

The inclement weather is attributed to an east-west trough extending from a cyclonic circulation over northeast Rajasthan and adjoining northwest Madhya Pradesh to Bangladesh, passing through north Madhya Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal.

This system extends up to 1.5 Km above mean sea level.

Moreover, an upper air cyclonic circulation over north Bangladesh and its surrounding areas continues to persist, now lying between 3.1 and 5.8 Km above mean sea level, further intensifying atmospheric instability.

Met Advisory

Weathermen have urged people to remain indoors during thunderstorm activity, avoid sheltering under trees, and secure loose structures or materials that may be vulnerable to strong winds.
