The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), in a joint press briefing with senior military officials, confirmed that Pakistani forces used 300 to 400 drones manufactured by Türkiye’s Asisgard to target multiple Indian military installations during the night of May 8–9.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sophia Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh addressed the media, revealing that drone incursions were launched across 36 locations, with the primary objective of targeting India’s defence bases.

India Responds with Counterstrikes, Neutralizes Targets

These actions were compounded by Pakistani troops firing high-calibre artillery along the western front. In response, India deployed four drones, successfully neutralizing a Pakistani aerial defence radar.

The Pakistani military violated Indian airspace multiple times across the entire western border, aiming directly at strategic military installations. In addition, the Pakistani army unleashed heavy-calibre shelling along the Line of Control.

Pakistan Uses Civil Flights as Shield

Wing Commander Singh pointed out that Pakistan deliberately operated within congested civil aviation corridors to avoid Indian retaliation, using civil airline traffic as a shield.

According to the Defence Ministry, the incursion attempts—ranging from drones to missile attacks—were swiftly countered using both kinetic and non-kinetic tactics.

Key military sites in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur were among the intended targets but remained secure following rapid defensive action.
