THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK
Daltonganj, May 9: People of all faith and cutting across party lines are talking big and high of the Indian Army. A sense of pride and robust confidence in the Indian Army pervades the whole atmosphere. Patriotism is overwhelmingly high among the public.

Close to it is the propaganda the enemy country Pakistan, has so unleashed. It’s high time to be wary of such propaganda.

The Jharkhand Story correspondent on Friday spoke to the Palamu SP Reeshma Ramesan. The backdrop was the attack of the enemy country on India which was foiled and aborted meaningfully.

People of Palamu were not asked for a mock drill recently but here people know how to deal with an extraordinary situation since Palamu had a long history of left-wing extremism which made its people to have faith and trust in the administration.

Here are the excerpts of the interview with the SP Reeshma Ramesan.
Q: It is anticipated there will be a rush of train journeys following a little over two dozen airports being temporarily shut down. How will Palamu police lend a helping hand to the railways here?
SP: Palamu police are always ready to provide all necessary assistance. We assisted the railways during the Maha Kumbh Mela. Of course, it’s a different time now. We are readily available to assist the railways if and when they ask for it. There are GRP and RPF. These are capable forces themselves.
Q: It’s propaganda unleashed by the enemy country Pakistan. How to combat it?
SP: Trust the official version. Never give any ear to the hearsay. The best way to save oneself from the heap of misinformation and disinformation is to discard things which don’t have the stamp of authentication. There is the PIB (Press Information Bureau). Do verify the verity of the information. If fake or mischievous or inflammatory, drop it. Never forward it at all.
Q: Can for verification of any such malicious content dial 112 be used? Will there come assistance from the police?
SP: Yes, very much. Dial 112. Feel free. Jharkhand police take care of calls coming to 112.
Q: The response time of the police is longer, and this dampens the mood of the caller.
SP: No. Response time of Palamu police is now 17 minutes in April 2025 which in October 2024 was 40 minutes. So have faith in the police when you dial 112. We will be there.
Q: The district of Palamu was not a categorised district for civil defence mechanism; nevertheless, people remain inquisitive about what other categorised districts in the country are doing. How can Palamu police help satiate the inquisitiveness of the people?
SP: Palamu police are always with its people. It stands the public through thick and thin. We know what to share with the public. Not all the information that we have with us, is for the public domain. We put things in the public domain only which are non-strategic but very well measured, appropriate and proportionate.

Q: Soon after the Pahalgam massacre of 26 innocent tourists, there was a widespread apprehension of deluge of inflammatory contents on the social media platform. Had Palamu police confronted with some such inflammation of passion then?
SP: We never sit idle. We discovered a couple of such contents. Quite silently but very firmly we got it deleted. Our team is right on the job. I only ask people of Palamu to discard and shun such things which are not in the interest of the nation. People by and large understand the evil intent of the enemy country which wanted to foment communal trouble in the country. The enemy country wanted a big divide between the two communities. However its mission failed. The country stands united.
