Daltonganj, July 8: Hopes have brightened for the general category students of class 8 of government schools to have their cycles!

Cycle Distribution Lags in 17 Blocks

Sources said, barring government schools falling in the blocks namely Pandwa, Satbarwa, Tarhassi and Naudeeha Bazar, distribution of cycles among general category students of class 8 of the government schools for the academic year 2024- 25 in the remaining 17 blocks is pending.

DDC M Jawed Husaain held a review meeting of the primary, middle and secondary education affairs on Monday, where this issue of cycles came up.

Speaking to the Jharkhand Story correspondent on Tuesday, DDC said, “I have asked the concerned education officials to ensure pending distribution of cycles to be done within a month. It should be given utmost priority.”

“Let no cycle be in the school campus undistributed. It must go to whom it is meant,” reiterated the DDC.

687 General Students Yet to Receive Cycles

ADPO (Additional District Programme Officer) Ambujya Pandey said, “We had 1,409 enrolled general category students of class 8 in government schools in the academic year 2024-25.”

There had come an identical number of the cycles too, added Pandey.

However, 687 general category students of class 8 of the government schools are yet to get cycles for the academic year 2024-25.

Pandey said efforts are on to expedite the distribution of the cycles in the remaining 17 blocks as cycle distribution has been over in blocks namely Pandwa, Satbarwa, Tarhassi and Naudeeha Bazar.

As for the academic year 2025-26, a proposal for 1,772 cycles has been sent to the state government.

The pendency of the distribution of the cycles among the general category students of class 8 of the government schools is likely to be over in the coming month following a deadline set by the DDC for it.
