Weather Systems Behind the Surge

A cyclonic circulation over north Bay of Bengal (extending up to 5.8 Km) is likely to induce a low-pressure area over the northwest Bay and adjoining West Bengal–Odisha coast within 24 hours.

Another upper air cyclonic circulation lies over central north Madhya Pradesh, also likely to result in a low-pressure area over northwest Madhya Pradesh and its neighbourhood.

The monsoon trough is currently active, extending from Bikaner to Jamshedpur and Digha, reaching into the northeast Bay of Bengal with a southwestward tilt, further fueling moisture inflow and instability.

Residents are advised to remain alert, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
