New Delhi/Ranchi, July 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address on Sunday, spotlighted a remarkable story of change from Jharkhand’s Gumla district, once notorious for Maoist violence.

“Sometimes, the greatest light emerges from the darkest corners,” the Prime Minister said, describing Gumla’s journey from fear and abandonment to hope and livelihood.

He noted that villages in Basia block once faced severe insurgency, where people lived in constant fear, farmland lay barren, and youth migrated in search of work.

However, Modi highlighted a silent revolution led by Omprakash Sahu, a local youth who renounced violence and embraced fish farming.

“He not only started fish farming himself but also motivated several others to follow this path,” the Prime Minister said.

The initiative sparked a positive chain reaction in the region. “Those who once held guns are now holding fishing nets,” Modi remarked, calling it a powerful example of transformation through patience and determination.
