“The demise of Shri Shibu Soren Ji is a big loss in the space of social justice. He championed the cause of tribal identity and formation of the state of Jharkhand. Besides his work at the grassroots, he also contributed as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, as a Union Minister and as a Member of Parliament. His emphasis on the welfare of the people, especially the tribal communities, will always be remembered. I extend my deepest condolences to his son and Chief Minister of Jharkhand Shri Hemant Soren Ji, other family members and admirers,” the President of India posted on X.

Jharkhand Governor Calls Him a Strong Voice for Tribal Identity
Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar termed the passing of former Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Dishom Guru Shibu Soren as extremely sad and painful. He described Soren as a powerful voice for tribal identity and rights and emphasized that his contribution to political and social life would always be remembered.
“The passing of former Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Dishom Guru Shibu Soren ji is extremely sad and painful. He was a powerful voice for tribal identity and rights. His contribution to the political and social sphere will remain unforgettable. My deep condolences to the grieving family,” Governor Santosh Gangwar posted on X.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s Message
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh called Soren one of the tallest leaders of Jharkhand who dedicated his life to uplifting weaker sections, especially tribal communities. He noted that Soren always remained connected to the land and the people and expressed that his demise had caused deep grief.
“The former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and one of the country’s senior-most leaders, Shri Shibu Soren ji, was counted among the towering leaders of Jharkhand who struggled throughout their lives for the rights and empowerment of the weaker sections of society, especially the tribal community. He always remained connected to the land and the people. I had a long acquaintance with him. His passing has caused me great sorrow. My condolences to his family and supporters. Om Shanti!” the Defence Minister wrote on X.

Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Monday paid tribute to Shibu Soren, remembering him as a steadfast advocate for tribal communities and acknowledging his enduring role in the creation of Jharkhand.

Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi said that Soren’s demise marked an irreparable loss for Jharkhand. He prayed for peace to the departed soul and strength for the grieving family.

Health Minister Dr Irfan Ansari referred to Soren as the architect of Jharkhand, a pioneer for tribal society, and a messiah for the poor. Guruji Was a Great Leader for Dalits and Tribals: Lalu Yadav
RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav described Soren as a great leader for Dalits and tribals and said his passing was a significant loss to Indian politics.
“Shibu Soren has passed away. He was a great leader of Dalits and tribals, and I had good relations with him. I feel sad. May his soul rest in peace… It is a great loss for politics,” he said while talking to reporters.
