Daltonganj, August 25: Ever heard of Anti-Quackery Act? If heard, ever found its implementation? The answer is no. And it gives a free hand to any quack.

This correspondent spoke to a cross section of people in the rural landscape of Palamu who said, “Injections matter most in rural areas. Administration of injections are seen as an expertise. A quack earns by injections more than tablets.”

A patient also feels cheated if not given any shot of injection.

Second is ‘pani charhana’. It is called IV drip. A quack who knows IV drip earns more money and remains in greater demand.

No quack ever does blood transfusions.

In 9 out of 10 cases, it’s injections administered by the quacks that have proved fatal.

A quack is booked under sections of cheating, breach of trust, impersonation etc.
