Jamshedpur, Sept 12: To commemorate the sacrifices of personnel who laid down their lives to protect forests, National Forest Martyrs Day was observed by Loyola School, Jamshedpur.

On this occasion, about 55 saplings received from Shaba Alam Ansari, IFS, DFO, Forest Department, were planted at the Tarumitra Centre, Jesu Bhawan, Mango, by the students of Loyola School.

The first sapling was planted jointly by forest officials, Principal Father Vinod Fernandes, in the presence of Father Rector Michael T. Raj. Students were encouraged to nurture and protect the saplings.

The day began with yoga, meditation, tree-hugging, and a biodiversity walk at the Tarumitra Centre, followed by group presentations conducted without the use of electronic gadgets.

This “bagless day” was designed to help students connect with nature and ease the anxiety that often precedes examinations.

The natural setting allowed students to observe insects, animals, and plants in their habitat, while also providing opportunities for teamwork and confidence-building.
