Jamshedpur, Nov 17: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has successfully foiled a human trafficking attempt at Tatanagar railway station, rescuing 12 minor girls and one minor boy.

Acting on a tip-off, a flying squad team under the supervision of Senior Commandant P. Shankar Kutty arrested two traffickers—Sunil Chatomba and Jambira Chatomba—who were attempting to take the children out of the state for forced labour.

The traffickers, residents of Hat Gamharia in adjoining Seraikela- Kharsawan district, had allegedly lured the minors with false promises of good jobs.

All rescued children, belonging to West Singhbhum and nearby areas, have been placed under safe protection and are undergoing counselling. They revealed they were being taken away for labour work.

The arrested duo has been handed over to the GRP at Tatanagar for further legal action.

The operation, carried out under the RPF’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), marks another significant step in the sustained crackdown on trafficking across the division.
