Ranchi, April 27: Leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi has demanded the removal of Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) Chairman L. Khiangte, calling him “incompetent and inept” amid ongoing controversies over competitive examination irregularities in the state.

In a post on social media platform X, Marandi said the continued disregard for the dreams and aspirations of candidates must stop.

He raised serious concerns about the deteriorating condition of competitive examinations in Jharkhand, stating that repeated irregularities have severely damaged the credibility of the system.

Irregularities in Jharkhand Eligibility Test

Marandi pointed to major flaws in the recently conducted Jharkhand Eligibility Test (JET) by JPSC. Question papers failed to reach one examination centre each in Bokaro and Ranchi, forcing authorities to cancel the exams at those locations.

He also highlighted errors in the English paper, where the same question was repeated based on a single passage, and another question was provided without any answer options. According to him, such mistakes reflect a lack of seriousness in conducting examinations.

He said that the emergence of new irregularities in almost every examination has now become a worrying pattern.

Allegations of Corruption and Mismanagement

Marandi alleged that dishonest and inefficient individuals have turned the JPSC into a “den of looting.” He claimed that corruption has spread across various processes, including the outsourcing of examination work, awarding of contracts, and supply tenders.

He further alleged that even job positions are being “sold in advance,” raising serious concerns about transparency and fairness.

Demand for Action

The former Chief Minister urged Chief Minister Hemant Soren to take strict action against those responsible.

“We reiterate our demand: remove JPSC Chairman L. Khiangte,” Marandi said.

He stressed that officials who fail to perform their duties must be held accountable to ensure that candidates’ futures are not compromised.
